Compress Images to 500KB

500KB is the default cap for many platform attachments and chat transfers. High-resolution photos usually still look good compressed to 500KB; the engine finds the best quality that fits.

How to use

  1. Drag images into the dashed box above (batch supported; each file independently approaches the target).
  2. Confirm the target size (default 500KB on this page). Output defaults to JPG; switch to WebP/AVIF for better quality per byte.
  3. The predictive engine fits the quality parameter automatically — usually hitting the target within 1–2 encodes, no manual trial and error.
  4. Download the results or grab a ZIP.

FAQ

Will my images be uploaded?

Never. All decoding and encoding for compressing to 500KB runs inside your browser via WebAssembly. This site has no image upload endpoint at all, and it works offline.

Is it free? Any limits on file count or size?

Core tools free forever. Core features need no registration and no watermark. compressing to 500KB has no file-count or per-file size limits. Images are processed on your device.

Can it hit 500KB accurately?

The target-size engine pre-checks bits-per-pixel, then fits the quality parameter from two samples — usually hitting the target within 1–2 encodes, with a binary-search fallback. Results are typically within ±5%; set a slightly lower target if you need a hard ceiling.

What if hitting the target would look terrible?

Switch the output to WebP or AVIF first (smaller at equal quality). If that is still not enough, downscale with the Resize Image tool first, then come back for compressing to 500KB.

Does it support batch processing?

Yes. Drop dozens or even hundreds of images at once; the memory-budget scheduler processes them locally in a queue. Download individually or as a single ZIP.
